You will need to lean on His strength in the days ahead. “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” With His light, we can take the next step ahead. As I mentioned, grief is a long, dark road, but these Bible verses will comfort you in the loss of your child. “For it is you who light my lamp the LORD my God lightens my darkness.” ![]() As followers of Christ, we will see someday see our babies again in heaven. In God we have hope, and He has given us these Bible verses of hope to remind us of that as we deal with our grief. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.” “But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. God has given us many Bible verses to comfort the grieving, and now we see how He knows our grief because He lost His Son, too. God pays attention, and He sees when you cry. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.” “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any afflictions, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. He is with you in your pain and binds up your wounds. Whether you are dealing with the unexpected death of your child or it was something you knew could happen, God truly is the God of all comfort. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” However, it reminds me of the truth of God counting my tears. It says something like, “Every tear I cried, You hold in Your hand.” This song is a part of my grieving process and it brings me back every time I hear it. This verse reminds me of the song “Praise You in This Storm” by Casting Crowns. “You have kept count of my tossings put my tears in your bottle. Please see my full disclosure for details. All these verses are great reminders of that. Notice that it says “when” not “if.” We WILL face difficulty, but God is with us every step of the way. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”Ī good friend shared Isaiah 43:2 with me after the loss of my girls. Isn’t that a comfort? I know you’re broken-hearted and even crushed, but He is near. ![]() “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” We don’t need to fear walking this dark path because God is our comfort. This verse is often used in times of loss. “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” He will help you be strong and courageous. The road of grief is long, but God is with you wherever you go. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” (ESV) “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. It doesn’t matter how hard the circumstance, how deep the grief, or how long the road is. The following Scriptures for grieving parents will remind you that God is with you in your pain, that He cares for you, that He wants to strengthen you through your hardships, and that through Him you have true hope and comfort. He walks beside you every step through the grief process. In God’s Word, you can find promises that He is with you in your pain and loss. Bible Verses to Comfort the Loss of a ChildĪs I just mentioned, there are many Bible verses to comfort the grieving in the loss of a baby or child. Human words can’t begin to compare to what God has to say. The Bible is full of spiritual words of comfort for the loss of a child and that is truly where the best words of comfort come from. ![]() He doesn’t change and continues to be with us, even if it doesn’t “feel” like it. How can you find comfort in the midst of grief? What can give you a positive outlook even as you mourn your sweet baby? What Bible verses and truths can you find comfort in? While it may be hard in the midst of the pain, it’s important to remember who God is. ![]() These Scriptures would bring me comfort and hope in the days ahead, especially when the pain was so raw. Many friends sent me words of comfort and Scriptures to comfort the grieving. I remember the early days of the loss of my twin girls.
